A music streaming app called Youtify is making headlines among young users for its promise of free, high-quality music playback and wide customisation features.
Available officially on the Apple App Store, Youtify is developed by Thai Huy Nguyen and has already crossed 86,000 ratings, holding an impressive 4.5-star score. The app allows listeners to search songs, albums, artists and playlists, stream in 320 kbps AAC, import playlists from YouTube, and enjoy extras like dark mode, equaliser, lyrics support and sleep timer.( MUSIC )
However, controversy is brewing after a Google Drive link surfaced online, pointing to a file labelled “Joytify-Youtify-MOD.apk”. This appears to be an unofficial, modified Android version of the app, potentially unlocking premium features for free. (music )
Cyber-experts warn that such MOD APKs often carry security risks, spread malware, and may bypass copyright protections. The use of modified apps also violates app store policies.
While Youtify’s official iOS version continues to enjoy popularity, the rise of its altered Android variants has sparked debate over legality, safety and copyright compliance.
